Hey bloggers!
Check out these cool photos of Tess’ performance @ AfroPunk!
Here is the official PR :
On Sunday, Aug 26th all eyes were on the “HipRocknB” Rebel Tess; who gave an electrifying performance at the Afro Punk Festival striking a cord with the 10,000+ attendees, which included Solange Knowles. The voice and energy of her set was powerful, vibrant, and refreshing. Tess rocked a custom made outfit by Rue 107 designer, Marie Jean Baptise who has gotten plenty of press lately due to Nicki Minaj wearing pieces from her new collection.
One of the memorable moments was her impromptu “freestyle,” where she soulfully sang to the crowd expressing heart felt gratitude for the support which helped her get to the Afro Punk stage. The road to the festival started a month prior when Afro Punk announced the “Battle of the Bands” competition; for a chance to perform at the festival. Tess quickly became a crowd favorite; and with an incredible performance at the finals, was announced the winner.
Tess and her “HipRocknB” sound was undoubtedly the breakout star of the festival, praised in The New York Times as “a dynamic belter, whipping up dramatic rock vignettes.”
